2022 Maps Championship Regulations


1. The Championship is open to all fully elected members of Whickham & District Motor Club. Registration is not required.

2. The Championship will comprise of indoor club events that involve the use of a map or map based instructions, i.e. Table Top Rallies, Telephone Rallies etc.

3. Points will be awarded to members based on their finishing position relative to other Whickham & DMC members. The highest placed WDMC member in the event’s overall classification will score 12 points, the 2nd placed WDMC competitor 10 points, 3rd 8 points, 4th 6 points, 5th 5 points down to 1 point for the 9th placed and below. In addition all WDMC competitors will be awarded 1 point for starting a qualifying event.

4. The number of scores counted by a member will be the number of events held if 7 or fewer events take place and 3 less than the number of events held if 8 or more events take place. In the event of a tie at the end of the year, positions will be decided in favour of the member with the most maximum scores, then most 2nd places etc. Points will be awarded for events taking place between 1 December 2021 and 30th November 2022, to allow the final positions to be determined and awards prepared before the awards presentation in December 2022. The organisers of each event will also be awarded three points (subject to a maximum of two organisers) unless they elect to take part in the event, in which case they will be awarded the points appropriate to their final placing.


5. Awards will be presented at the end of the year to the highest placed member and runner up and subject to eligibility, the highest placed novice in the points table. The definition of a novice will be determined by the club competition sub committee.

6. To be eligible for an award, a member must organise a club night event or help to organise or marshal on an event during this Championship period for which a Motorsport UK permit is issued and inform the co-ordinator of the fact within one calendar month of the event taking place.

8. Points will be awarded by the co-ordinator after each event, but the onus at all times is on the competitor to report any errors or omissions to the co-ordinator within one month of the event results being declared final and no later than 30th November 2022. Should event results not be declared final on the night of the event then declaration of the final results via email from the Competition Secretary, or publication of results on the Club’s website, will be considered final. Points will not be awarded retrospectively; i.e. a competitor may not claim any points for an event that has taken place before they paid their membership fee for the current membership period.

Current positions will be available at any club night, and displayed regularly on the club website and in Pacenotes.
