Mac's mumbles
Here are a few highlights and low lights of the past few weeks, Tony Thompson suffered quite serious leg injuries on the Trackrod Rally, after spending a few weeks in hospital he is now back home and having physio, I am sure everyone in the club wishes him a speedy recovery. Ronnie Roughead continues to notch up some good results in the left hand seat with Mark I’Anson in a Mitsubishi and Robin Shuttleworth in a MK1 Escort Pinto. Peter Gibson finished in a very respectable 30th. Place on Mull in his Evo 6, first time out after his shunt on the Jim Clark Rally. Michael Glendinning and Andrew Roughead finished a very close 2nd to John Stone on the club’s Cheviot Rally on Otterburn, after an epic drive they were only three seconds behind the WRC Skoda. The second Autosolo at the Metro Centre was a success.

And....
The road events run by Colin Fish are beginning to gain a good reputation among club crews, I know the one I did with Trevor Coulson was great, I was up more back lanes than a council dustman. The most recent one attracted nine crews. At long last the Mini of Peter Metcalfe is nearing completion and will be used on such events as the Berwick Classic. Way back in July the Shaw trophy Classic Rally was run by this club and this also was a great success. The club website is brilliant, thanks to Tosh Townsend for that.
RS2000
Anybody within fifty miles of here will be sick of hearing about my latest project,it was bought in late August as a rolling shell, with roll cage and big alloy fuel tank in boot, as it was residing in Low Fell I enlisted the help of the Knox boys to trailer it to Blaydon, after a couple of weeks the engine and gearbox were fitted, then the windscreen, a fair bit of work was needed on the wiring, fortunately all welding and painting has been done, various parts have had to be found and some surplus bits sold.
The engine is now running, started first time after timing was set,the correct exhaust fitted, the bonnet pull is fixed, new tyres bought, seats recovered, the front lights are to wire up, many thanks to Malcolm Holdsworth, Jeff Tait, Andy Saxelby (RS2000 Expert), Colin my neighbour, my tyre fitter Michael, and my long suffering wife Alice for all of her help and patience, it will be on the road soon, honest!
